Émilie Samson

AS A PERFORMING ARTIST
Émilie Samson is a jazz singer, composer, and educator based in New York. In 2017, after receiving a scholarship for Master's degree from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, she relocated to the city from Montréal, Québec, where she was born and raised. Émilie has been actively engaging in live jazz performance since she came to the city and made her debut at Linocln Center before she graduated from MSM in 2019. Her Carnegie Hall debut was booked on March 14th, 2020 and her new EP An Introvert's Dream was released on June 12th, 2020.

In addition to a singer exposed to different music styles, Émilie is also a well achieved composer. It is jazz along with many other styles of music, such as Brazilian music, musical theatre, classical and popular music that enriches the quality and adds extra layers to Émilie's work. This also reflects on her new EP with her arrangements and compositions.

Through her music, Émilie talks about the human experience through time. In her arrangements, she gives a new life to old songs, making songs written almost a century ago relevant again. Her compositions are more introspective, showing a different side of her personality.


AS AN EDUCATOR
Émilie Samson has been teaching voice and piano for over ten years. She is currently on the faculty at Larchmont Music Academy. Émilie's private lessons are taught physically in New York City or virtually in North America and East Asia.

Her voice lessons prepare students with a full skill set for performances, auditions and contests. She is also a trained pianist. Under her tutelage, her students are equipped with the skills to accompany themselves, greatly increasing the efficiency and quality of daily practice and collaborations with others. Émilie is a firm believer and practicer of incorporating different genres of vocal music to gain new understanding. Thus, in addition to jazz singing she also teaches musical theatre and pop repertoires.

Beside her solid musical training, sophisticated pedagogy and bilingual background, Émilie holds a Kindermusik license, which builds her a diverse student base ranging from infants to seniors in both English and French speaking communities.
